Mariann Rammo

Mariann Rammo graduated from the University of Tartu with a BA degree (A pre-Bologna Process degree, now considered equivalent to a Master’s degree) in Archival Studies (2006) and works at the publishing house Ignis Fatuus, founded in Elva in 2014. Her academic background and practical experience with archival materials underpin a systematic and source-critical approach.

Her research is based on the analysis of a wide range of archival sources. This includes the reading and interpretation of handwritten materials, as well as the comparison and integration of information from different sources. The result is a text in which facts are placed in context and form a logical whole.

In addition to the substantive research, she places emphasis on the usability of the outcome—whether for compiling a family history, interpreting a historical topic, or preparing material for publication as a book.

The collection Kuu kumavas valguses (In the bright light of the moon) (2016) presents lyrical poetry in the tanka form, exploring emotions and thoughts in a nocturnal setting. Kui tuli suudleb taevatähti (When the fire kisses the stars in the sky) (2018) continues this lyrical approach, focusing on love, nature, and existential themes.
